  2. when -3 is cubed, it is not suppose to have the end result of -9, but instead 9 as negative 3 times negative 3 is a positive number.

    If x = -3, y = -1

    2 x (-3)^2 - (-3)^3 x (-1)
    = 2 x 9 - (-27) (-1)
    = 18 - 27
    = -9

  9. (-)*(-) should be +, so (-3)^2 should be 9, not -9. (-)*(-)*(-)= (-), and (-)*(-)= (+), so -(-3)^2= 27

  18. The person should place the powers of the number outside of the brackets and he did not rewrite the expression of 2(-3)^2 into 2(-3)(-3). Thus he only work out (3^2)and leaving the answer as negative.
