eLearning Lesson 1 Task 1: Choice of Graphs

Among the 4 graphs (Line Graph, Bar Graphs, Pictograms, Pie Charts), identify ONE graph that is NOT an appropriate choice to represent the information?

Why do you think it's not appropriate?

What makes you think the 3 remaining graphs are appropriate?

Answer:
I think that using Line Graph is not an appropriate choice to represent the information in this scenario.
Normally, line graphs are used to show changes that occurred on one or more object or brand etc. by putting dots as the changes and connecting them with a line. In this scenario (as seen in picture), the dots are representing the different places with different weathers and they are not related to each other because they are not about the changes of the weather of each particular place. It is better if there are only dots and the vertical axis is labelled as: Number of places.

The remaining 3 graphs are all appropriate because they are showing the number of places with a particular weather separately and clearly.

    1. Good observation, Nina :)

You are right to point out that "line graphs are used to show changes that occurred on one ... object".

As you pointed out correctly, the dots are not related to each other. What we want to track is the temperature change if we were to find the purpose of using line graphs in this scenario.
