eLearning Challenge - Data Consolidation by Jonathan Foo (12)

Neighbourhood: Jurong West
Name Of Road: Jurong West Avenue 5
Bus Stop Number: 27441
Bus Stop Name: between blks 757/758
Time started: 11:00a.m.
Time ended: 12.30p.m.

Based on your observation, what is the profile of the commuters during on a typical Friday, between 11.00 am to 12.30 pm.
They are mostly Adults, elderly or teenagers.

What are the challenges you faced during the data collection period.
Sometimes, there were no commuters waiting to board or alight, so the bus did not stop at the bus stop, and just went on ahead, making it difficult for me to track the profile of the commuters. There were also times when the bus driver kept looking at me, because it was the same one from one of the previous buses, and I felt a bit weird. Other than these 2 challenges, I found this challenge easy.

If you were given a 2nd chance to capture data again, suggest at least ONE way to improve the process.
I would REMEMBER to bring a camera to take photos of the bus stop. Also, I might improve on the way that I collected data as I did not have a table prepared. Instead, I just wrote down the details of each bus as they came and left, making my process more time-consuming and tedious.

  1. As of the profile of commuters, you may try to recall what you exactly observed. That might give you some clue where they were heading to... and this might enable us to make some inference like facilities around the bus-stop area :)

From your table, notice that you did not record the expected bus arrival time. You would be able to find the expected arrival time using information available at http://www.sbstransit.com.sg/transport/trpt_bus_timetable.aspx

Some simple calculation is needed. You may need to make an assumption that the first bus of each bus service arrived punctually :)

Point to clarify, under "Remarks", for several buses, you indicated "bus comes quite fast after the first one". Can you elaborate on this?
